Trading Spreads and Seasonals

April 12, 2011 · Posted in options trading strategies · Comment

Product Description
Trading Spreads and Seasonals is a powerful, profit enhancing trading course based on Joe Ross’ years of personal trading experience and remarkable trading success. These days, it seems most traders are focused on outright futures or options trading strategies. You hardly ever hear of anyone who trades spreads or seasonal spreads, or outright seasonal futures – especially at the same time! That’s because very few futures traders truly understand seasonality. This… More >>

Binary Options Trading Made Easy

March 26, 2011 · Posted in options trading strategies · Comment

The stock market, often also called the securities or equity market, is a strange beast even in the world of markets. The trading here does not involve buying anything more physical than pieces of paper. In these days of electronic dematerialization, even this is rare. However, some of the greatest fortunes in the modern world are made and lost here. As is the custom with fortunes, they tend to swing about pendulum-like and their fall can be hard to bear. With normal stocks, the risks can be mitigated by a change in the future position of the stock. But for those who are more the risk-taking kind, there are the binary options, often called the all-or-nothing option.

As the name may suggest, binary options trading involves investing in a stock and either gaining the entire pay-off or losing your investment completely. For a long time, binary options trading was a direct transaction between the option issuer and the buyer, with no financial agency playing intermediary. However with the public listing of such options, it has become lucrative for middlemen to woo buyers to try their luck at binary options. Since the prospective gain involved is, proportional to the risk, higher, it is a chance that many might take. But with the volatility of stocks coming into the picture, there are no sure bets, and this gives the trade a profitable edge from the agent’s perspective.

But how does binary options trading work? Simply put, the buyer invests a certain amount in a particular binary option and selects a maturity date, or a time when the option will be tested. Then the buyer chooses the call or put option to indicate whether he expects the stock trading price to surpass a fixed value or trade under. If on the maturity date, the stock price matches the buyer’s prediction, he receives the pre-determined pay-off. In the other case, as mentioned above, the buyer loses his investment completely.

The agent’s profitability lies in suitably balancing the pay-off with a guarantee of diminished loss. The agent may claim a percentage of pay-off and offer to pay back some part of the investment. This gives the buyer a sense that he is recouping at least some of his losses. However the basic premise of the binary option cannot be completely disguised. Agents are more likely to pick stocks which are volatile, that is see frequent stock price fluctuations which makes it harder for investors to fix the target price without a considerable degree of risk. Again, when buying options from agents, it is important to remember that the purchase price may not accurately reflect the actual market price. But the target price will most definitely be the stock price on the market on the maturity date. It is therefore a must to carefully observe the stock price fluctuation before and after the purchase. This is educational for the investor and also prevents agents from managing the option to their benefit.

Understanding Options

January 12, 2011 · Posted in forex trading · Comment

Product Description
It’s not hard to understand why options trading continues to grow in popularity, especially among sophisticated investors with large stock portfolios. Options are a cheaper and therefore, inherently less risky way of speculating on the price movements of stocks or other under-lying goods, yet, due to their volatility, they provide more price action per dollar than do stocks. And, when traded in conjunction with stock portfolios, options can significantly enhance an … More >>
